What We Do

More than ever, this is when we need to shout out even louder about the dangers facing the future of this generation. Rape and child sexual abuse are gaining ground in our society because of our nonchalant attitude towards them and the perpetrators walk free on the streets while the victims sink deeper into emotional and psychological trauma.

We have refused to address rape and child sexual abuse as national emergency crises. Global effort to curb the spread of HIV and AIDS is unprecedented. Yet, rape and sexual abuse are two major avenues of contracting HIV and all other sexually transmitted diseases. To curb these diseases, we need to check the rate of increase of sexual abuse and rape. Just as destructive as the diseases are, so do the emotional and psychological trauma of rape and sexual abuse.

TRF is tightening effort to make sure we lessen the rise of sexual abuse & rape, but our efforts are limited because the victims are not being attended to properly. Most times some of the victims that are taken to the hospital, after being attended to by the doctors are sent home and the parents, guardians or relatives expect them to continue living their lives just as before. Family and friends push the experience behind them and live their lives as if nothing happened, but the victims can’t. The emotional and psychological trauma keeps eating them up except they go through counselling sessions with psychologists and or Counsellors.

This is where TRF comes in, counseling victims of rape, abuse of any kind and domestic violence. Victims will also be taught how to use their experience as a means to climb the ladder of success in life and use their experience as a tool to help others who may go through the same experience as theirs.
